Jacqui Johnson

Practice Manager (Cert IV in First Line Managment)

I started within the Veterinary Industry in 2010 in a client service role. It was a dream of mine to combine my love of animal welfare with my previous experience in customer service and volunteer work with Fauna Rescue.  My work within the industry evolved into Veterinary business administration, and then Practice Management.

At home, I am kept busy by my 3 children and my beautiful, now senior, Coolie/Collie X, Bowie. Bowie was an abandoned puppy that I was lucky enough to offer a place to call home. He has trust issues from his early days so coming to the vet is a challenge. I can therefore really empathise with clients who have anxious dogs, and love sharing stories of what helps to make vet visits easier.

Since starting with team at Hawthorn Vet I have found our clientele really wonderful. You all take such great care of your pets. The trust you have in our Veterinarian's advice allows us, as a team with you, to help give your pets the longest, healthiest, happiest life possible. Which is what we are all here for!

Anna

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2005 and have been in small animal practice for 20 years. I have seen Hawthorn Vet grow and develop over the years to become the great practice it is today.

I enjoy working all aspects in the clinic, from surgery, triage and consults, to reception and customer liaison. I also have a keen interest in emergency nursing.

At home, I have my 2 senior pets - Lucy the cat and Sophie a Terrier cross. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my family.

Meg

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

I have been a Veterinary Nurse for a number of years and find this job incredibly rewarding. I am a massive Staffy lover - this breed truly speaks to my heart and I always find myself inside their cages giving them all cuddles.

I have two dogs that I consider as my fur babies. I make them cakes for their birthdays, onesies for winter, and they come everywhere with me. They are my absolute best friends.

I personally enjoy a good Netflix binge and love watching a whole series in a day. I don't like to take life not too seriously and you’ll always hear me somewhere in the clinic laughing and smiling.

Sarah

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2006. I have also completed my Certificate IV in Animal Laboratory Technology. I have worked in different practices but I have been nursing at Hawthorn Vet since 2007. My special area of interest is surgical nursing. At home, I have a dog, 3 cats, chickens and horses.

Kristen

Trainee Veterinary Nurse (Cert III Animal Studies)

I have always had a passion to work with and help care for animals. I spent 2 years in Whyalla fostering for their local vet providing TLC until their fur-ever homes were found. I also spent some time volunteering at the local RSPCA. After completing my Cert III in the Northern Territory, it reassured me that Veterinary nursing was the career path that I wanted to pursue.

I have two gorgeous male senior cats at home which were both rescued at a young age from shelters. They both have very different personalities, one being extremely vocal but timid around new people, and the other who gets a little ‘hangry’. We have also been raising baby sea-monkeys!

I look forward to continuing to broaden my knowledge in the field, and continuing to meet everyone along the way.

Bianca

Receptionist

I grew up in Country Victoria where I began working in a Vet Clinic 8 years ago.  Living in the country I got to see a large range of animals from cats and dogs to cows, sheep, horses, snakes and lots of wildlife!

My family and I decided to move from country Vic to Adelaide to enjoy the beautiful beaches and lifestyle S.A has to offer.

I commenced employment with Hawthorn Vet as a Receptionist in March 2022.  I enjoy meeting all the clients at Hawthorn Vet and in particular I have a soft spot for all OODLES!!! Most of all, I love the way our clients care for and love their pets.

In my spare time I enjoy taking my old Spoodle, Ruby, for walks on the beach, spending time with family and friends, camping, and most of all spending time at the beach watching the local dolphins and seals swim by.
